Hypnosis is the name given to a state of consciousness that allows us to have greater access to our unconscious processes.  Our conscious mind does most of our thinking and decides a lot of what we do.  The subconscious mind is where we store all of our learned behaviours, determining how we react in certain situations without thinking about it, whether these are positive or negative.

Deep relaxation and focusing, calms the conscious mind, so it takes a less active role in our thinking.  In this state, you’re still aware of what’s going on, but your conscious mind takes a back seat allowing change and new ideas to form in your subconscious.  It is in this state that we are able to work to suggest new positive ways of thinking and feeling.
